Katekyo Hitman Reborn! 347-362 – Finally!

Kyoya Hibari Using His Awesome Power

Kyoya is awesome, so I picked him for this.

Impressions only, no summaries.

Things start normal first. Days of living the ordinary life of a student, not as the 10th Mafia Boss. But things won’t be as simple as that now. Because it’s time for the Arcobaleno’s to shine their rainbow!

I’ve always been baffled by the Arcobaleno and have been looking forward to them for a long time to make such appearances, but things were moving on from a different side. The way the mangaka just showed us the Arcobaleno is just quite a surprise. For a battle to remove the curse? Well, things are going to be one hell of a battle.

Mammon was the star of the Reborn Letter Arc. It was centering on him, and it was a good way to side quest the idea that someone will have to take Flan. It seems that Flan, who is wanted by the Varia and Mukuro Team, has lost his memory. I don’t know who ended up having Flan (or I may have forgotten), but that’s when Mammon slipped by their eyes, and moved towards the Pacifier Fountain. Surprisingly, everyone was their except for Reborn, who was the creator of the letter. It was, then, revealed that there is an Eighth Attribute of the Arcobaleno, a possessor of a clear pacifier. Things like this have been mashed up and have almost gotten to the point of where we could finally uncover two things, the 8th Arcobaleno and the Vendice’s powers.

But no, things will take it to a different way. It is revealed that the Arcobaleno are cursed people, who turned into infants by force of an unknown person, later revealed to be Checker Face. It was, then, revealed by Checker Face that there will be a battle, a battle in which the Arcobaleno that won will have their curse removed. Everyone was starting to get interested, especially when one raised his hand on agreeing to it. No surprise, Reborn came last with no word at all, either because he didn’t trust that person or he just doesn’t want his curse lifted in such a way. Eventually, he just agreed to it, after having it explained, everyone woke up in their dream, that’s when the look for the representatives begin.

As things come and go, mixed with confusion and smartness, things eventually come down to this: (Arcobaleno – Boss – Battler)

  • Reborn – Tsuna – Dino, Hayato, Takeshi, Ryohei
  • Colonello – Iemitsu – Lal, Basil, Oregano, Turmeric
  • Mammon – Xanxus – Squalo, Bel, Lussuria, Levi
  • Verde – Mukuro – Ken, Chikusa, M.M.
  • Skull – Enma – Shimon Guardians
  • Fon – Kyoya
  • Uni – Byakuran or Gamma – Kikyou, Zakuro, Bluebell, Daisy, Torikabuto, Nosaru, Tazaru (only 5 of these will participate)

On the first day, I thought things will change to something thrilling and exciting with their school life. That somehow, the students might wind up dead or something. It will be a good projection for their story. It feels too much of a coincidence that everyone is gone, and they fall fight in a really peaceful, deserted field. It would really be nice if they could somehow add this as an addition to the battle performance.

As school has ended, things really get terrible, in whichever way you look at.

  • Tsuna and Iemitsu are fighting each other. We all later learn that Iemitsu is a hard person to kill.
  • Arcobaleno’s Varia representatives (except Xanxus) are fighting against Enma. He’s losing, but we finally see the most important part of this newly-introduced arc: the power of the Arcobaleno. The “present” is a power that temporarily removes the curse of being an infant and gets a battle approval. They can fight their way through it, but the first one to get introduced is Skull’s Undead Body. He took all the 4 critical hits, but doesn’t budge at all, only feels the pain in his body as he shrinks back to an infant when the battle is over. Finally, these infants are stronger than I thought.
  • Kyoya, the representative of Fon (a surprisingly great twist), fights against 3 of Reborn’s Battlers: Ryohei, Hayato, and Takeshi. Ryohei uses his Vongola Gear and attacks Kyoya, but Kyoya makes a clean win by destroying his watch. Now, it’s two against the strongest of all the guardians, Kyoya. It’s exciting in a way, especially when Reborn has already lost one battler.

There are other people fighting such as Mukuro, which was only hinted when he was talking to Chrome. Chrome has gotten a bad condition, and I don’t know why, but it may be because Mukuro has somehow thrown him away and has started to lose the power of the illusion organs. Still, if that may not be the case, it’s a great way to spark up the relationship between these two people. I kind of missed having Mukuro and Chrome go together. Without them, it started feeling like there’s a huge loss in the story. I’m only hoping they put on a good conclusion in their part, which might be something strong, both for their relationship and their power.

Looking at everything this way, I guess it’s good to put everyone in a free-for-all battle. I’m even more interested at how these alliance function works for them, so I hope we get a glimpse of people actually having an alliance.

Last thing to note is, will Reborn really get his body back? Tsuna has lost his self in his battle against Iemitsu, and Iemitsu could just blow up all the chances for Reborn if he does push through to destroying the watch. How things like this continue to go is interesting in its own.

But wait, there’s a more interesting idea. If one Arcobaleno is thrown out of this battle, will the 8th attribute make its appearance? What does Checker Face have to do with the eighth if the case may be like this?

There are important points left unanswered. We can only hope that things will be revealed in the end, and turn out for the good as well.
